ok so in a skill-  1 gets 4 ss(SwordSkills) when first starting out, and then gets another one ever 5-10 points; Ie

One-Handed Sword:  2/1000(not sure on the number but if we had it so ever 4 gives us a group and would be like 4 points up on the skill latter witch would make it seem like their is an infinitive  amount of sword skills) (Every Time you use 1 of these skills from it, it goes up .50 or 1 point what do u guys think?)
Slant - (1-hit strike)- Starts With
    Vertical - (1-hit strike)-Starts With
    Horizontal - (1-hit strike)-Starts With
    Uppercut (1-hit strike) -Starts With

Could you explain the point system again, or in a different way?  I'm kinda confused on it.

    Sure:

lets say u selected the one handed sword skill for ur starting skill, when u begin u get 4 skills to start with- witch would be

    Slant - (1-hit strike)- SW       (PM- 1 Seconds)                      PM-Post Motion SW-Start With
    Vertical - (1-hit strike)-SW     (PM- 1 Seconds)
    Horizontal - (1-hit strike)-SW (PM- 1 Seconds)
    Uppercut (1-hit strike)-SW     (PM- 1 Seconds)

That would give u either 2/1000 on the skill progression or 4/1000 on skill progression,

The skills u unlock from leveling 1 skill up is 1 skill that u can use,
so lets say u have unlocked the Rapier skill: That gives u

    Linear - (1-hit strike)SW (PM-1 seconds)

    Skill progression would be 1/1000.

and every time u use a skill that increases it by either .25% or .50% percent. IE: used Linear once that would give 1.25 or 1.50, and if used it twice that would give u either 1.50 or 2.00 out of 1000-with 1000 being considered mastered.

So using skills will master the individual skill, and each mastered skill will add 1 pt to the overall mastery of the weapon?  Why don't we just use the exp of monsters killed with the weapon to level it up.  So, every time you kill a monster, your weapon gains exp just like your character.  When your weapon "levels up" then it will gain an extra skill point towards the 1000 point mastery.  That way it's less complicated and less focused on forcing players to use new skills to level up if they don't want to (think Skyrim, once you max, let's say, destruction magic, then you have to start using one handed weapons to keep leveling up your character.  The same would be true for sword skills w/ the system you described, if you want a character that only uses the basic sword skills with maybe a finisher skill thrown in there, then you'd have to use the low level combo skills that you don't like in order to gain access to the high level finisher combo skills of your weapon).  Anyway, once your weapon reaches a certain level, then you gain access to the sub-weapons under it (if there is any) like rapier and katana.

Also, side note, 1 second is way too long a PM time, especially for the basic skills.  I can see it maybe as a PM for the ultimate skill in your weapon category, but a paralysis of an entire second for a simple skill like that is insane.  I know you were probably just throwing numbers out there, but i would think that these basic skills would have a PM of more like .1 seconds.

yeah u have to kill something or someone before it counts as lvling up, and weapons dont lvl up really the more experince u r in lets say 1 handed long sword- the better u can deal damage ie lets say  1 handheld long sword skill 1/1000

    Bronze long sword damage 20-30

1 handheld long sword skill 100/1000

    Bronze long sword-  60-70

yeah its a little long i will change those pms

but you still think that we should level up weapons based on the player using all of the different sword skills at their disposal versus simply being effective with the weapon?

I think so, as to me that makes since, as a 1 handed long sword skill with only  1/1000 will do less damage then some one who has more progress in that skill

okay, but then we should at least make it so that players don't have to max all of their sword skills in order to gain maximum mastery of their weapon. So something like every time you get 200 points in a skill you gain one point in the progress towards the weapon's mastery. That way, you only have to master 1/5 of the available skills in order to master the weapon (I hope that makes sense).

It would be less strict that way. I hated how Skyrim forced you to use all skills at the table to continue to lvl.

To get things straight, when you reach 200 in a weapon, you gain one point to the overall Mastery?

From what I understand, if you level up the one handed skill "Slant" to 200 by using it, then your one handed sword mastery will go up by one. Then, if you really like Slant, you can level it up to 1000, thus gaining 5 points. The points you get specifically will probably change by the game (because I don't think we really want 1000 different sword skills for each weapon) but the main thing is that you'll only have to fully master 1/5 of all of the available sword skills in order to get 100% mastery of your weapon. If that makes sense...

I think we want for each weapon skill to have around 30-50 skills a piece, it doesn't matter witch skill u use- it will still count as exp towards progress in that weapon skill, but it will only count if u manage to hit and do damage to the enemy -sound good to u guys?

I guess, but if i understand this right(it was late when we talked about it yesterday so i didn't really get it all) lvl a weapon skill to 200=1 point. 1000 points you mastered the weapon? Or only 1/5 of it. That's the part i don't get. Probably cause my knowledge in english is limited and all that

Yes, if u raise ur skill progress 200/1000 u get 1/5 point towards mastering it-witch gives a slight increase to the weapons damage-small increase ofc, so when u reach 1000/1000 =5/5 points- u have mastered and can do all the damage u can do with that weapon

So then you have mastered all skills in that specific weapon or in the weapon-category? (one-handed, spear etc etc..)

    weapon category, I think.

And, Akira, does this mean that we're not leveling up skills separately from the overall weapon type? Now I'm confused, lol

1-handed long sword- when u reach 200/1000- u get 1/5 point that increases the weapons damage- then if u get to 400/1000 u get another increase in weapons damage, and 2/5 points that u can have, and no u have to lvl up the weapon skill type ie, the 1 handed long sword  skill 400/1000 on progress and 1 handed curve sword is at lets say 100/1000 if that makes sense.

Okay, I understand. And I was talking about leveling individual skills (like leveling up the skill "Slant") vs. leveling up the weapon type (like leveling up One-Handed Straight Sword)

So, if you level up a skill with one weapon of the same type it will be on the same level on another weapon of the same type but you still need to level up all the skills to gain "Full Mastery"?

Okay, yeah. I didn't know you'd decided that yet. Maybe we should release the Estoc alongside that, so that they know that we're just replacing the role of the Tonfa (extremely high dps and speed) with something that won't slide into the realm of duel-wielding, not just eliminating it entirely.
